ASSISTANT CARPENTER/WINDOW RESTORER
Location: Asheville, North Carolina Employment Type: Full-time (30 hours/week) Compensation: $20-25/hour depending on experience Start Date: ASAP
The Opportunity:
We’re seeking a detail-oriented, passionate individual who wants to build a meaningful career in historic preservation and grow their skills as a carpenter. This is a hands-on role where you will learn the art and craft of window restoration, finish carpentry, and preservation techniques from an experienced craftsman. If you have a love for old homes, a reliable work ethic, and the patience to master traditional techniques, this is your opportunity to grow with a mission-driven company.

The Requirements:
Basic knowledge of painting and finishing techniques
Reliable transportation and basic hand tools
Capable of lifting/moving heavy equipment
Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, and at heights
Demonstrated experience in a related position with strong references
Excellent communication skills, patience, and diligence
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Non-smoker preferred
Genuine passion for historic homes and preservation work
The Role:
Restore and preserve historic wooden windows and doors using traditional techniques.
Prepare, paint, and finish wood surfaces to the highest standards
Perform work both independently and collaboratively on residential restoration projects with other teammates and trade professionals
Learn preservation best practices and sustainable building principles
